What do you want your tests to tell you? Sure, that the app works. But we also want to know about reliability, security, and performance. We want to trust our tests, and we want them to be quick, stable, and easy to debug. Effective tests don’t happen by accident. They require the test design treatment.

The bad news: We suck at designing tests. That’s why we end up with unreliable, flaky, long-running, time-wasting tests.

The good news: Test design is not rocket science.
(Unless you’re testing rockets. That’s for another webinar).

In this session, I’ll discuss what test design is and how it can improve our tests, enhance product quality, and save us a ton of maintenance time. We’ll cover various aspects of design, focusing on what we want to learn from our tests. I’ll go through examples, particularly for API tests, using the SFDIPOT strategy to guide our design.

We’ll also tackle test design anti-patterns that lead to “unavoidable” test maintenance, and prove that with a bit of thinking up front, we can save lots of time down the road.

Test design is a lost art. Let’s bring it back.

The webinar will take place on November 13th, 2024, 10am CET.
